GALLERY : TEMPORARY INSTALL OF A PERMANENT COLLECTION.
This exhibition celebrates some of the most recent additions to the University Galleries’ Permanent Collection and is the second exhibition to highlight gifts to the collection. Not only does it recognize the donors who have helped the University Galleries develop and expand its Permanent Collection, but this exhibition also introduces and presents the gifts to the university and local community.
Within the last few years, The University Galleries’ Permanent Collection has grown considerably, due to the ongoing generosity of donors. These recent gifts represent a passion for collecting and a dedication to stewardship in the visual arts. The variety of the artists whose work is represented reflects the varied interests of donors Richard and Nona Barrett (Dallas) and Dr. Timothy Dwight Woolsey (Austin). The exhibition, comprised of over 20 new gifts, includes works by David Bates, Julie Speed, Richard Tuttle, Annabel Daou, and Terry Winters, to name a few. – Mary Mikel, Texas State Gallery Director

Note from artist: Pictured second from left is a significant drawing of my professional career. Once I opened my studio, it is the second drawing I completed, it took almost one year and consists of approximately one million circles. It is now in the permanent collection of Texas State University. Its a must see and in good company.
