A Poem A Day: April 28, 2015 Farewell's Edge by Stephanie Strange

A Poem A Day: April 28, 2015
Farewell’s Edge by Stephanie Strange

Today’s poem is a completion of notes from this time last year. As I began to type it on the page I felt the urge to make a sort of bowl of water with the outside margin justified and the inside as chaotic as water. Although I typed in linear lines, I typed with no registration for a sense of fluidity. I was pleased that the finishing line ended parallel with the beginning line and that the line that ended in ‘water’ was at the center bottom. But it was when I actually reread it that I fell in love with it. I had a sensation of falling in a backwards motion as though I was being churned underwater by a wave. This poem is executed better than I could have planned. I followed the poem and it lead me to poetry.

The message of the poem is also in sync with its image. If you can imagine one that kneels by the river to look in. Their gaze looks down until they cannot see any deeper then searches out and finally it comes up again. It is a story of our human spirit living the moment of saying goodbye to what ever it may be.
